Steve began his career in television in 1984 with Ohlmeyer Communications
Company. OCC proved to be the perfect place for Steve to learn his trade
as he was mentored by several key players in the television industry.
With over 20 years of producing and directing experience, he is the recipient of eight Emmy awards for his work on the Olympic Games and Motorsports. The Indianapolis 500 (1994 – 2003), the Brickyard 400 (1995 – 1999) and over 200 IRL/Champ Car races from around the world make up some of his credentials. Steve also produced and directed The Skins Game and The Senior Skins Game throughout the late 80’s though 2003. For over two decades, he has directed PGA and Sr. PGA Tour golf including many made for television specialty events.
He has directed ABC’s College Football “A” game for five years and his football resume includes games such as the FedEx Orange Bowl, Nokia Sugar Bowl, Tostitos Fiesta Bowl and the HD telecast of Super Bowl XXXVII.
He has also directed the horse racing series for ABC and ESPN, The Road to the Breeders’ Cup. Included in this series was a two-hour network telecast from Dubai in the United Emirates. It was the first time a sporting event was broadcasts from Dubai and aired on U.S. network television (ABC).
Sporting events are not Steve’s only endeavors. In 2000, he spent five weeks in the Sahara desert co-producing and directing a live two-hour FOX special, Opening the Tombs of the 10,000 Mummies, hosted by Hugh Downs and Bill Pullman. Three years ago, he spent six weeks in the Australian rain forest directing ABC’s hit reality show, I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here.
Recently, he has directed reality shows for TBS (House Rules, The Mansion) and VH1 (You Rock…Rod Stewart, You Rock…Melissa Etheridge). Other entertainment projects include franchise wraps Movie and a Makeover and Big Playstation Saturday for TBS, Saturday Night Solutions for CourtTV and numerous awards shows for ESPN.
With an extensive reel in both sports and entertainment, his expertise continues to be live, multi-camera events.
